Right, prayers and readings are over. I’m off to bed.

May The Lord God grant you all a peaceful and undisturbed sleep. May he send an Angel of peace to guard and protect you from all evil and distress of the heart.

God Bless and keep you.
Daniel

Midnight prayers, Bible reading, sleep.
Sounds like a plan.

By the way, I have an empty ask box, so any Q’s, (or prayer requests, or quote topic requests) go for it.

Do you believe, and do you want, the Eastern Orthodox and the Oriental Orthodox to reunite?

It is my dearest hope that this will happen and I feel it is the right time due to the closeness between the communities on a grassroots level, with minor talks between dioceses and a shattering of many of the misconceptions which have existed in the past. God willing this will happen in my lifetime.

Many of the Churches have local pastoral agreements which allow marriage and even concelebration of the Liturgy (Syria) and many times in the past this has almost happened (In the 1860’s, the Alexandrian patriarchates were planning to reunite) yet we still see groups on both sides who protest.

We even accepted that we have a shared Christology and Theology 20 years ago, and many Patriarchates agreed to plan the lifting of Anathemas, yet we are waiting 20 years now before these talks happen.

If God wishes for us to wait longer, that is his will, but I pray for this reunion every day.

In Christ,

Daniel

How many times have I prayed for what seemed a good thing for me and not leaving it to God to do as He knows best But having obtained what I begged for, I found myself in distress because I had not asked for it to be, rather, according to God’s will.

Saint Nilus of Sinai

kind of having mixed feelings about the media coverage of Obama feeling ‘humbled’ to see Mandela’s cell.

He went to prison for a leading the Militant wing of the ANC who planned a violent uprising, bombed structures (with people in) and stockpiled weapons.

As much as I think that any form of Apartheid is horrific (as people will know from my Palestine posts) but should we really feel humbled to be the place where someone arrested for violence (not unlawfully) was imprisoned?

I dunno. It just seems odd to be to glorify that.

I would prefer to stand where he stood when he addressed the unified nation to where he stood as a man who blew things up.
